Picantos Mexican Grill
Aundh Branch
After frequenting this place quite a bit in the past few
weeks, I can safely vouch for their service –they have accommodated me in every
instance and have provided exceptionally good service, leaving no scope for any
kind of dissatisfaction. This is something rare that I have experienced and I
urge you to try this place based only upon this – I love the spirit of
entrepreneurship. I have had the privilege of meeting one of the owners and of talking to the other on the phone a couple of times, both of them were extremely helpful and friendly.

Bean tacos |
I have tried almost everything on their menu – crispy shell
tacos, quesadillas, nachos, bowls, pastas and desserts. The bean tacos are
crispy and sprinkled with cheese but a bit messy to eat. Nachos are served in
good quantity – two people would enjoy one plate and there would still be leftovers for a third person.
They have loaded nachos as well as ones
served with guacamole – something that’s hard
to find here.

Cheese chicken quesadilla |
The cheesy chicken quesadilla which I tried was pretty good. I
liked their bowls – you can choose from a variety of veg or non-veg ones. These
are huge, nutritious, full-filling meals with lots of veggies, a main
preparation of your choice and flavored rice. Among these, I tried herbed mushroom and spicy
paneer, of which I liked the herbed mushroom better. There’s also Indian twist
on these with something like butter chicken, but I reckon that you should try
the Mexican options first! They used to have various combos with these, like a
bowl with two beverages just under 300 –a value for money deal which I could
see was a favourite among couples.

Tomato Chipotle |
I love pesto sauce and their preparation of verde pesto,
literally “green pesto”, was wonderful albeit rather too oily. I’m not a fan of
red sauce
but one of the owners was here and she suggested we try that since that's her favourite - and I liked it. It was tomato chipotle. They also have carbonara which is usually with
bacon so I was confused, but it is basically a white sauce which I’m yet to
try. I also liked their ginger lemonade,
a refreshing drink good to have on your side if you’re having something spicy.

Chocolate pannacotta |
Apart from their chocolate cookie and tres leches cake, I
have tried all their desserts. I wanted to try the tres leches cake as well as
it is one of my favourites, but unfortunately it was out of stock the last
time. Chocolate pannacotta with strawberry coulis was the perfect texture and
tasted good. You’d find that the churros that they serve here are mini versions
of the actual churros –sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and served with chocolate
sauce, they could be devoured instantly. Although, every time that we have been
here, we’ve ended up eating so much that we have had to parcel the parcel-able desserts.
Chocolate quesadilla is the Mexican version of the famous chocolate sandwich
that you get here, and I would say it is much better. We were not served the
one with marshmallow or chocochips as it is now claimed in their menu, but I
think we were one of the first ones
to
try it when
probably it was yet to be
printed on the menu.

I found out that they also arrange for kids’ birthday
parties because of the one time that we were here – there was a big group of
about 25-30 kids occupying a corner of the place, enjoying themselves thoroughly
with various games and food. In case you
are someone who takes a lot of pictures, I’d suggest you to not miss clicking a
picture with the “sombrero”.
